Caramelized Pears

Have some D’Anjou pears lying around the house and some vanilla ice cream in the freezer? Try this recipe! It is SO simple and is sure to impress. Plus, half of the dessert is fruit, so it is somewhat healthy right?IMG_4736[2059].jpg

2 pear halves & a scoop of ice cream = 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 D’Anjou pear, halved
  • 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Cooking Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium-high.
  2. Add the pear halves, one cut side down, and cook until browned. Then reduce the heat to medium and cook for about 3 minutes.
  3. Turn pear halves to the other cut side and cook 4 minutes. (If I’m being totally honest, I just went off how they looked instead of looking at the time.)
  4. Then, add the sugar and 1 Tbsp. of water, swirling pan to combine.
  5. Turn the pears skin ide down and cook until the sauce is thickened slightly, about 2 minutes or so.
  6. Stir in the vanilla, and serve warm with a scoop of ice cream
